Coastal Waters in Ozamis City, Philippines turns Red! megaflash.online

Locals of Brgy. San Roque and Brgy. Baybay Santa Cruz in Ozamiz City, Philippines are bothered about their coastal waters. Based on the pictures of their coastal waters that are now circulating on social media, their waters have turned red, so the locals of the area are anxious about it.

These residents are now confused by what triggers the bizarre changing of waters. Various speculations of these are spreading online and even some netizens were likewise stunned by the red color of the waters of these barangays in Ozamiz City.

There are those who suggest that it might be a sign of a 'disaster' coming up. Again, there are those who argue that this situation can be read in the Bible.

Meanwhile, there are still some who claim that this is a natural occurrence of harmful algal blooms. According to some, it may be because of the dirt of their waters. There are some netizens who have simply spelled out the story of what happened, as they may have just thrown a red 'substance' into their water, such as gasoline.

This incident occurred for the first time in the area, so the residents of the affected barangays were shocked and worried that some parts of their waters turned red.

However, due to the incident, the specialists of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources or BFAR have investigated to determine the unusual change of the sea color in some of these barangays in Ozamiz City.

The local government of Ozamiz City, the police of the Ozamiz Maritime Police Station, the Philippine Coast Guard, and even the Philippine Ports Authority of Ozamiz City have taken samples of the affected water there.

Many are now waiting to see what the results of the tests will be and when they find out what caused this incident.

Meanwhile, here are the various opinions expressed by netizens regarding the unusual change of the sea color in some of these barangays in Ozamiz City:

“Algal bloom for sure. The rapid increase of algae. Sometimes green, yellowish-brown, or red."

“This is because freshwater algae accumulate in a body of water, resulting in its discoloration at the surface - sometimes turning it purple, pink, red, or green. ”

“What was said in the Bible has already happened. Please don’t. We have not even recovered from the pandemic after this. This may be what happened in the bible. Bloodstained, and this happened in the time of Moses. Jusko pity the world. Amen. ”

“Why does that have to be ridiculous? With all that is happening in the world, can’t we just pray without a bad sign showing that bizarre changing of that water? Maybe it was Red Tide. You may not eat any kind of sea animals, especially shells during that time. They will poison you. ”

Meanwhile, the photos shared online have gone viral, as many netizens have also been shocked by the bizarre change in water. However, many netizens believed it was fake and modified, but some claimed it was a natural phenomenon.

For now, the color of the seawater is back to normal this morning, Monday, February 22, 2021, after residents of the area were stunned by the bizarre change yesterday. The cause of the unusual change is still being investigated by BFAR.
